Velvet Web is more than a clothing label - it’s a living piece of Brisbane’s alternative history. Founded in 1993 by a young goth named Bec, the city’s first goth store grew from a handmade basement operation on Adelaide Street into a cornerstone of the underground scene, dressing club kids, goths, punks, and night-walkers while helping shape a community that extended beyond fashion. After closing in 1999 as life took a new turn, the brand never truly faded.
Today, Velvet Web has been revived and reimagined by three generations of women, blending its original handmade, alternative spirit with a modern, sustainable approach. Every piece is created with intention - handmade or upcycled, ethical, size-inclusive, and designed for those who find beauty in the unusual.
